Toyota’s Mirai is a large four-door sedan (longer and wider than the Camry) underpinned by a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain.
On public sale in Japan, only limited numbers have come to Australia so far, for lease to organisations keen to trial the vehicle.
The fuel cell provides power to a single electric motor driving the rear wheels with quoted outputs sitting at 134kW/300Nm.
Inside, the Mirai is decked out with a premium and soft-touch interior headlined by comfortable, leather-wrapped seats.
The Mirai is offered in seven exterior colours - Arctic White, Silver Rush, Liquid Metal, Tarmac Black, Force Blue, Dynamic Blue and Feverish Red.
The 2021 Toyota Mirai can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 9.2 seconds.
The Toyota Mirai features a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with digital radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support and 14-speaker sound system, as well as features such as LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start and dual-zone climate control.
The 2021 Toyota Mirai offers seating for five occupants, though the middle seat in the second row is severely compromised by a hydrogen fuel tank.
The Mirai is capable of swallowing 272 litres of volume in its boot, which cannot be expanded as the rear seats do not fold down.
