The Volvo C40 is a small SUV with a couple of twists. On one hand, it stays on trend by being styled like a coupe. And on the other, it's an electric vehicle (EV).
Closely related to the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, the C40 is available in Single Motor and Dual Motor forms, with both delivering more than 400km of driving range, while the latter is quicker than a hot hatch.
The line-up currently starts at $78,990 for the C40 Recharge Pure Electric and ranges through to $87,990 for the range-topping C40 Recharge Twin Pure Electric.
The C40 is offered with two different non-leather interior trims depending on the variant chosen, with additional detailing on the inside for the top dual-motor varaint.
The C40 has a quoted boot space of 489 litres although this is not to the VDA standard. All variants have a powered tailgate.
Standard items on the base C40 include 19-inch alloy wheels, a 9.0-inch portrait multimedia touchscreen running a Google-based always-online software suite, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, a fixed panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, heated seats for the front two and outboard rear seats, a powered tailgate, as well as keyless entry with touch-free ignition.
The C40 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds in its most rapid dual-motor form.
No matter which variant chosen the C40 is strictly offered with a five-seat arrangement.
