BYD Seal Accessories
The BYD Seal comes with a high-level of standard specification across all three variants - Dynamic, Premium and Performance.
All have LED headlights, LED tail-lights, glass roof, keyless entry and ignition, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system and a 15.6-inch multimedia touchscreen with built-in navigation and Spotify music streaming, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The key elements the Dynamic misses out on are the genuine leather-wrapped steering wheel (it has artificial leather), head-up display, memory driver’s seat and gets a smaller battery and less powerful motor.
The Premium adds a genuine leather steering wheel, the head-up display and driver’s seat with memory positions as well as the powertrain differences.
The extra elements for the Performance, aside from the powertrain, are the heated steering wheel and 19-inch alloy wheels, instead of the 18s on the Dynamic and Premium.
BYD Seal Interior
The BYD Seal features a very detailed and stylish interior design.
There’s a nice variety of trims and materials that lend an air of quality to the range-topping Seal Performance.
The seats are a particular highlight, not only are they comfortable and supportive but they’re trimmed in soft, diamond-quilted leather that feels, here’s that word again, premium.
There plenty of technology, too, with a 15.6-inch multimedia touchscreen taking prime position in the centre of the dashboard. It runs an intuitive and clever system that allows you to control all the various functions, and it can even rotate 90 degrees.
BYD Seal Boot Space
The BYD Seal comes with 450 litres of luggage space, split between a 400-litre boot and a 50-litre storage space underneath the bonnet.
However, this storage comes at the expense of a spare tyre, even a space saver. Although, on a positive note, BYD has created a specific under floor area to store the charging cable when not in use.
BYD Seal Seats
The BYD Seal has seating for five, in the conventional sedan layout.
Thanks to the layout of the electric powertrain there is good space inside, with decent knee room in the rear for adults, although the glass roof and sloping roofline does compromise headroom for taller passengers.
BYD Seal Speed
According to BYD's claims the Seal can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds for the Dynamic, the Premium takes 5.9 seconds and the Performance is the quickest at just 3.8 seconds. The Seal's top speed is limited to 180km/h.
BYD Seal Engine
The BYD Seal is available with three different powertrain choices across the model range. The Dynamic and Premium are single-motor, rear-wheel drive only, while the Performance gets a dual-motor, all-wheel drive layout.
BYD claims the Seal Dynamic makes 150kW/310Nm, the Premium 230kW/360Nm and the Performance 390kW/670Nm.
