Bentley Flying Spur First Edition 2020 revealed

Bentley has revealed a special First Edition variant for its all-new Flying Spur sedan range, which is slated for production before year’s end. 

The limited-run four-door will make its public debut at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Gala this week, where the first example will be auctioned off to raise money for charity.

Distinguishing the First Edition from the standard Flying Spur is a number of aesthetic touches including unique badging, a Union Jack flag with the numeral ‘1’ in the centre, and special Bentley Winged emblems embroidered into the headrests and treadplates.

It also benefits from a number of otherwise optional extras, like 22-inch Mulliner wheels and the rotating centre display which gives drivers the choice of a touchscreen display or old-school analogue dials.

The First Edition will make its public debut this week at a charity gala, where an example will be auctioned off.

First Edition units are also equipped with the Touring package, which adds lane assist, night vision, a head-up display and adaptive cruise control. 

The First Edition will be put into production for just 12 months, with initial customer deliveries earmarked for early 2020.

At this stage, Bentley has yet to confirm timing and specifications for the Flying Spur in Australia.

As reported, the third-generation Bentley four-door is powered by a 466kW/900Nm 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12, as found in the Bentayga Speed performance SUV.

That’s matched with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sending drive to an adaptive all-paw driveline.

Weighing in at 2435 kilograms, the new Flying Spur is a hefty beast, but still manages to sprint from zero to 100km/h in an impressive 3.8 seconds.

The new Flying Spur has been stretched, and features an extended wheelbase. To compensate for this, an all-wheel steering system is employed to enhance low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability.
