I am now scared to travel more than 20 km in my 2001 Volvo S60 2.4T as the slipping and grabbing from my automatic transmission seems to get worse as the journey progresses. An auto transmission mechanic has said that they could do a service on the unit, flushing out the old oil and replacing it with fresh, but will not say whether this would cure the fault. Any thoughts?
Servicing the auto transmission is a good start and I would support doing that, but it could be something deeper that is causing your problem. It could be that it needs a rebuild, but you won't know until the mechanic checks it. Whatever it is, it needs addressing.
