Nissan Navara D22 fuel-injector fail

A fuel-injector on my 4-year-old Nissan Navara D22 4x4 has failed after only 47,000km. Nissan has refused to cover the cost of the repair, saying the vehicle is out of warranty and has not been properly serviced. It has been serviced every 10,000 km, not every six months as Nissan recommend. The local dealer has been supportive, but says there is nothing more they can do. I believe Nissan has an obligation to replace the faulty part and is using the service issue to avoid its responsibility in compensating for the $1138.14 it has cost to fix this vehicle. Any ideas as to where I go from here?

Fuel-injector problems are not confined to Nissan, all brands use much the same injectors and all suffer problems. I reckon you're going to struggle to get any sympathy from Nissan on this one, the vehicle is out of warranty, and you have followed your own service schedule, which at 10,000km intervals suggests you have serviced it every year instead of six months as per Nissan's recommendation. If you feel particularly aggrieved you could contact Nissan directly and express your concerns.
