I have three complaints about my new Kia Sportage. 1. Although it has just had an upgrade from the dealer, the navigation system still doesn't show some changes around the Gold Coast roads that have been there for quite some time. Is it reasonable to expect only a once a year update, or should Kia and the original supplier be making more effort to keep up to date? 2. The dealership has told me that nothing can be done to mitigate the effects of the turbo lag, which to me seems quite bad, so much so that I expect to get bunted when the thing goes off song at traffic lights. Am I correct? 3. Radio reception for ABC on the GC is terrible. I am told it is due to inadequate transmission, but I also have the same problem with other stations. Will a different aerial fix the problem?
The issue of map updates is one that applies to most carmakers, if not all. It seems to me that upgrades should happen automatically when the car goes in for service, at least for the term of the warranty. I don't recall any significant turbo lag when I drove the Sportage, so I would be asking the dealer to drive a similar car and compare it to what is happening on your car. If it is the same there's not much you could do about it, but if it's not you could ask the dealer to fix yours. AM radio reception is a problem. It can be affected by interference in your area. An amplified antenna could be the solution.
