My husband and I are looking to get a used 4WD SUV and have narrowed it down to either a 2013/2014 Mazda CX-5 or Honda CR-V. We do mostly city driving with the odd longer road trip, camping or going to the mountains in winter. We are looking at the higher end spec vehicles e.g. Grand Touring or VTi-L, the CX-5 Akera is very nice too, but probably outside our budget.
Comparing them is difficult as they both have pros and cons. At the moment the thing that stands out for the Mazda is lower fuel consumption, but if there are known problems with the used vehicles that may cost us more down the track then this may not be something to worry about. Is either vehicle known to be more reliable, or has had any more problems widely reported about than the other and for our purposes do you think there is one make or model that stands out between the two cars?
The two cars you’ve selected are equally sound and reliable, and there are no issues to be concerned about when buying a used example. Either one would do what you want. The best course is to test drive each and decide which one you like best.
