2022 Ford Puma price and features: Increased cost and revised options detailed for Mazda CX-3, Toyota Yaris Cross, Volkswagen T-Cross and Kia Stonic rival

The Puma has been updated MY22.25, with increased pricing among the changes.

For the first time since its introduction in October 2020, Ford Australia has increased the Puma light SUV’s pricing as part of a model-year update.

With the MY22.25 version, the Puma is $350 dearer across the range, from the unnamed entry-level variant ($30,340 plus on-road costs) to the mid-range ST-Line ($32,690) and flagship ST-Line V ($35,890).

While no changes have been made to standard equipment, the Puma’s optional Park Pack (steering assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist and front parking sensors) has had its price reduced from $1500 to $990.

Other options have also been tweaked, with the $2000 panoramic sunroof and $500 black roof now exclusive to the ST-Line V, having previously been offered range-wide.

For reference, all variants of the Mazda CX-3, Toyota Yaris Cross, Volkswagen T-Cross and Kia Stonic rival use a 92kW/170Nm 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine, which sends drive to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Standard equipment in the unnamed entry-level version includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, keyless start, an 8.0-inch touchscreen Sync3 multimedia system, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, digital radio, a seven-speaker sound system, wireless smartphone charging and cloth upholstery.

Advanced driver-assist systems extend to autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, regular cruise control, traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert, tyre pressure monitoring, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.

The ST-Line adds sports suspension, a body kit, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel (with paddle-shifters), sports seats and metallic pedals.

Meanwhile, the ST-Line V also picks up 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, a hands-free power-operated tailgate, keyless entry, a 10-speaker B&O Play sound system, climate control and leather-accented upholstery.

Justin’s dad chose to miss his birth because he wanted to watch Peter Brock hopefully win Bathurst, so it figures Justin grew up to have a car obsession, too – and don’t worry, his dad did turn up in time after some stern words from his mum. That said, despite loving cars and writing, Justin chose to pursue career paths that didn’t lend themselves to automotive journalism, before eventually ending up working as a computer technician. But that car itch just couldn’t be scratched by his chipped Volkswagen Golf R (Mk7), so he finally decided to give into the inevitable and study a Master of Journalism at the same time. And even with the long odds, Justin was lucky enough to land a full-time job as a motoring journalist soon after graduating and the rest, as they say, is history. These days, Justin happily finds himself working at CarsGuide during the biggest period of change yet for the automotive industry, which is perhaps the most exciting part of all. In case you’re wondering, Justin begrudgingly sold the Golf R (sans chip) and still has plans to buy his dream car, an E46 BMW M3 coupe (manual, of course), but he is in desperate need of a second car space – or maybe a third.
