2024 Hyundai Kona Electric N Line revealed, confirmed for Australia as styled-up electric small SUV to take on BYD Atto 3 EV

The Kona Electric is going ‘N Line’ for the first time, launching in Australia later in 2024.

Just like the petrol-powered Kona, Hyundai’s electric version of the small SUV is set to score a sporty N Line variant.

The 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric N Line will land in Australia later this year, according to a Hyundai Australia spokesperson, though the new variant is set to arrive in Europe and the US earlier in the year.

While local details of the first Kona Electric N Line haven’t been confirmed aside from a rough arrival time, a European press release details the new variant closely enough that we get some idea of what to expect.

Joining petrol and hybrid Kona N Lines, the electric version will be available in either N Line or N Line S specification in the UK, though it’s unclear if that’s market-specific.

The N Line comes primarily with similar exterior design treatment to the petrol and hybrid versions, with more aggressive bumpers at the front and rear, a set of 19-inch alloy wheels, black trim to replace some of the body-coloured parts, and an optional two-tone roof.

Inside, options for seating are “N Line with Cloth” or “N Line S with Eco Alcantara & Leather”, the Alcantara consisting of 57 per cent recycled polyester. Red contrast stitching and a black headliner also feature, as well as metal pedals and a specific N Line steering wheel.

Both variants come with the Kona’s 64.8kWh (called 65kWh) battery pack, which in the Kona Electric is the ‘extended range’ variant with a 150kW/255Nm front axle-mounted electric motor.

With 19-inch wheels fitted, the Hyundai Kona Electric Extended Range has a claimed electric driving range of 444km.

Pricing is unconfirmed in Australia, but given the current most expensive Kona is the Electric Premium at $68,000 before on-road costs, expect to pay a little more for the N Line.

Hyundai Australia earlier this month confirmed pricing for the rest of the Kona Electric line-up in Australia, kicking off at $54,000.
