2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid SUV Australian pricing confirmed: New Toyota RAV4 Hybrid rival to come in under $50K

The Sportage will have two hybrid variants, a mid- and a top-spec version either side of $50K.

A new addition to the hybrid mid-size SUV market is imminent, with Kia Australia having confirmed pricing for the Kia Sportage Hybrid on its website ahead of its arrival.

While specific details are yet to be confirmed, the brand’s Australian website lists the Kia Sportage Hybrid at a starting price of $45,950 before on-road costs for the ‘mid-spec’ SX variant.

The starting price for Kia’s hybrid mid-size SUV puts it at only a couple of thousand dollars more expensive than a key rival, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which has been around for a while in its current generation and starts at $42,260 for the base-model GX.

The Kia Sportage Hybrid is also available in a top-spec GT-Line variant, coming in at $55,420, about on par with the price of a Toyota RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid ($54,410). which comes in all-wheel drive as opposed to the front-drive Sportage.

A spokesperson from Kia Australia confirmed the pricing reported on-site is accurate, though is unable to provide any further details than are displayed on the Kia website for now.

The list of features shows the Sportage SX Hybrid will come with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display, satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, AEB with forward collision warning and pedestrian and cyclist detection, intelligent speed limit assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, multi-collision braking, a front centre side airbag plus lane-keep and lane-follow assist.

The GT-Line scores a curved digital instrument cluster the same size as the multimedia screen, leather-appointed seats with heating and ventilation, a heated steering wheel, a dial-style shift control, a wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, a 64-colour ambient lighting, and also adds a blind-spot view monitor and surround-view cameras.

The Kia Sportage Hybrid has a starting price of ,950 before on-road costs.

There are some minor differences between the fully combustion-powered and Hybrids, for example the GT-Line only comes with the heated steering wheel in Hybrid form, while the 19-inch wheels available on other GT-Lines aren’t on the hybrid, though further differentiation will be confirmed closer to the official spec finalisation.

Expect the Sportage’s hybrid drivetrain to come in with specifications almost identical to those available overseas: a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol four-cylinder engine assisted by an electric motor for a 169kW/350Nm output - also seen here in the Kia Sorento.

The Hybrid is front-drive only, with power transferred through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Further details will be confirmed when the Sportage Hybrid arrives for customer deliveries.
