2024 Subaru WRX Club Spec SE confirmed for Australia: Iconic performance variant brings wild spoiler back to WRX sedan, but you'll have to be quick to get one

Subaru's ultra-limited Club Spec badge will return in 2024.

Subaru Australia has announced the return of the limited high-performance Club Spec grade for its 2024 WRX range.

You'll have to be quick to get your hands on one though, with the brand confirming just 150 units of the Club Spec will arrive later this year, in six-speed manual and in the sedan bodystyle only. For those keen to be quick on the trigger to secure one of the 150 units, Subaru says the Club Spec will join the local WRX range in April.

A single image has been released of the model showing the return of the large boot-mounted wing, as well as a bespoke set of alloy wheels compared to the rest of the range. Further details on spec and pricing have yet to be revealed, but expect it to sit atop the current range, which in sedan form tops out at $57,990 before on-road costs for the WRX AWD tS Sport automatic.

The current WRX has a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged boxer engine producing 202kW/350Nm, already a slight boost over the previous-generation Club Spec's 197kW/350Nm, although it's unclear if power is tweaked for the new version.

The WRX Club Spec was last sold in Australia in 2020 as a limited variant of the previous WRX, although it was available in both automatic and manual forms. The nameplate dates back to 1997 for locally delivered cars, and has been sold on and off as a limited variant of every generation since.

The current-generation WRX has soared to new heights since its launch with a 14.7 per cent boost in volume year-on-year to the end of December 2023 moving 2743 units, outselling some rivals like the Mazda6, Skoda Octavia, and VW Passat.

Expect to learn more about the Club Spec, including pricing and spec closer to its Australian launch.
