The fourth part of Mazda’s Large Architecture platform quartet will be revealed within a week, with a teaser image of the CX-80 large SUV accompanying confirmation the model will come to Australia.
With a reveal date locked in for 18 April, a week from time of writing, the Mazda CX-80 will join the CX-60, CX-70 and CX-90 as the final piece of the brand's current push into ‘premium’ territory.
While we can expect to see the CX-80 land sharing plenty in common with its Large Architecture platform siblings, Mazda Australia has already confirmed a couple of details.
The CX-80 will be almost five metres long, for example, and feature a wheelbase longer than three metres.
This means it’ll be slightly shorter than the CX-90, with a wheelbase not far off it (and longer than the CX-60) though it’s what’s inside the CX-80 that’s been teased.
The three-row ‘bigger’ sibling to the CX-60 will have the option of being fitted with a standard second row with a three-seat bench, or with a two-seat captain’s chair setup with a console in between, while the third row is a two-seat fold-down row either way.
The six- or seven-seat Mazda CX-80 will be revealed next week.
