Pug-in! 2023 Peugeot e-2008 electric car pricing confirmed for Australia, coming this year to rival the BYD Atto 3, MG ZS, Hyundai Kona and Kia Stonic EVs

The e-2008 is Peugeot’s second EV to be confirmed for Australia following the e-Partner van.

The electric version of one of Europe’s most popular cars is coming to Australia this year, with Peugeot Australia opening up the pre-order books for the e-2008 electric car.

The 2023 Peugeot e-2008 will be the brand’s first electric passenger car in Australia, with the small SUV following the e-Partner van which was also recently confirmed for a local launch.

Due to land in Q3 this year with a starting price of $59,990 before on-road costs, the e-2008 is powered by a 100kW electric motor and has 260Nm of torque to put to use. Its battery, with the brand’s Common Modular Platform (CMP), has a 50kWh capacity.

The e-2008 can charge at up to 100kW, which means it should be able to charge to about 80 per cent in half an hour with full power, up to its full claimed range of 328km.

Its price places it alongside a rival from South Korea, the Hyundai Kona EV Elite Extended Range, which costs $60,500 and has a longer claimed 484km range. It is, however, cheaper than other small electric SUVs from Europe like the $84,900 BMW iX1.

Peugeot Australia managing director Kate Gillis says the e-2008 is an important step in the brand’s electrification, which she told CarsGuide last year is key to boosting the brand’s success in Australia.

"This year, we have set out to accelerate our local electrification journey and the exciting addition of the e-2008 will play an important role in building our electrified offering and ultimately offering more choice for Australian consumers,” she said.

Pre-orders for the e-2008 can now be placed with a dealer or online at Peugeot's website.
