Suzuki Jimny and Vitara 2019 confirmed for Australia Day launch

The 2019 Jimny and Vitara Series II will hit dealerships on the controversial January 26, but no official pricing yet.

Suzuki Australia has confirmed the new-generation Suzuki Jimny small off-roader and Vitara Series II SUV will launch on January 26.

Official pricing for the Jimny off-roader is yet to be revealed in Australia, but the Japanese brand says it has received over 200 pre-orders so far.

The range is likely to land between $25-$30,000 and, as previously reported, will be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing around 75kW/130Nm.

It will also feature a 7.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity but was recently handed a three-star NCAP rating.

The Series II Vitara will launch on the same day, with the most notable improvements being a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine for lower variants, and a significantly-improved safety offering including AEB, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.

While a lot of hype surrounds the Jimny, the Series II Vitara will gain significant safety and drivetrain upgrades.

Stay tuned for official pricing and spec levels for both cars when they are officially revealed closer to the January 26 release date.
