Zeekr is a premium EV brand launched by Chinese giant Geely in 2021. It was created to compete with Tesla and other high-end electric carmakers. While relatively new, Zeekr benefits from Geely’s deep pockets and tech know-how, including access to Volvo and Polestar platforms.

The brand kicked off with the Zeekr 001, a sleek shooting brake built on Geely’s SEA architecture. It quickly gained attention in China and parts of Europe thanks to solid performance, long range and clean design. Zeekr followed it with models like the 009 people mover and compact X SUV.

Plans for global expansion are well underway. Zeekr vehicles have arrived in right-hand-drive markets including Australia. With local interest in premium electric cars growing, Zeekr could appeal to buyers after something fresh that still offers proven underpinnings. Pricing and support will decide how well it sells here.
