That's a rather subjective question that's almost impossible to answer. It also depends on what you call fun. Both would be fun to drive, but if I were to make the choice purely on the driving experience I would choose the BMW.

The 1 Series interior is more spacious than you'd expect from a small car. There is plenty of rear headroom and a good amount of legroom. It's a stylish, well-executed cabin that feels premium.
The 118i can cover 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds, the 128ti does it in 6.3s and the M135i xDrive completes the sprint in 4.8s.
Some standard equipment includes includes single-zone climate control, head-up display, LED headlights and fog lights, M aerodynamics package, leather steering wheel, sports seats, a six-speaker audio system, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers, M Sport suspension, wireless smartphone charger, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch multimedia screen with satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio and Apple CarPlay.
The 1 Series has a 380-litre boot that expands to 1200L when you lower the rear seats.
