Commodore with shuddering auto

The automatic transmission in my late 2011 VE Commodore 3.0-litre is shuddering. It used to be occasional, but now it is more obvious at 55-65km/h and 95-105km/h. The local dealer reckons that because the car is out of warranty Holden will not fix it, but he will fix it for $1900. But unknown to me this problem has been a known problem to Holden since at least early 2012. Given that the car is 3.5 years old and has only done 65,000km and there is a known problem, what should I do to have this fixed for free?

There was a problem with the torque converters in some 2012 Commodores that led to shuddering. It is possible that your car is affected. It is a pity you didn't act on it earlier when you first observed the shuddering, but it's not too late to do it now. Go back to the Holden dealer and ask him to make a request to Holden to fix it. If you get no satisfaction with the dealer go directly to Holden and make the request yourself.
