Good $20,000 town car?

I am retiring and need a second car, as we have a Toyota Prado as our main car for touring and travelling the Outback. When we are both in town we have different hobbies and commitments, so we need a smaller car that is capable of fitting golf clubs or a bike in the back. I am used to getting in and out of the Prado up high and have up to $20,000 to spend.

You'll be well served by a Honda Jazz, which gets The Tick, as it's easy to get in and out as well as flexible for carrying. It's the car my mother-in-law is getting.
