Holden Cruze transmission problems

I have just purchased a used 2011 Holden Cruze, with 88,000 km and I’ve noticed in the last few days that the transmission is slipping from 2nd to 3rd when the car warms up and has been driven for at least 20 minutes.

I purchased the car privately from a lady who brought it from the dealer and it has full service history with the dealer. I was advised by a transmission specialist to take it to Holden, as there was a special coverage warranty on my vehicle. I went to Holden to discuss the issue and the receptionist checked the GM register and advised that the service manager would need to take the car for a road test. The service manager said there was no need to road test it, I needed a full one-hour diagnostic check done at the cost of $135, and from that they would contact Holden to see if they would cover all, or any of the fault.

Since then I’ve read a lot about the transmission faults. I’m just wondering where I stand with Holden on this due to it being less than 100,000 km and with a good service history.

The problem with the Cruze transmission is well known.

You have done the right thing by registering your concern with Holden, and it has responded by telling you a diagnostic check is needed to assess the situation with your car.

Pay the $135 for the test, and providing it confirms the problem I would expect Holden to replace the transmission at its cost.
