Toyota Aurion 2008: Leaking water pump but Toyota willing to pay half

My mechanic recently noticed red stains on the block below the water pump on my 2008 Toyota Aurion AT-X, which has only done 21,306 km. He advised me to contact Toyota and to make a claim because of the low kilometres even though the warranty had expired. I did and Toyota offered to cover half of the $303 cost of parts leaving me to pay for the eight hours of labour, which would be approximately $1000. I contacted Toyota customer relations and was told that they would review the claim, but they haven't replied yet. Should I accept their offer?

If it is only a slight leak you could probably continue to drive it, but if you did it would only get worse and you will eventually have to replace the pump at your cost. I would accept the offer.
