I recently brought a 2009 Mitsubishi Triton 2.5-litre turbo-diesel and about three days later it started having a miss or a fuel cut. It happens in all gears, at various speeds, but most commonly when I'm coasting at a specific speed or taking off. When doing 100 km/h on freeway it'll start shuttering due to what I believe to be a fuel cut or problem If I put the throttle down it goes away, if I let throttle off it goes away. It's like the engine just can’t maintain the right fuel and starts to shutter and when taking off from lights it'll have a brief split second cut out and then keep going and also blows a lot of black smoke even when coasting at 100 km/h just after some advice what the problem could be?
It sounds like it could be the fuel supply; check the fuel filter, fuel pressure, and the injectors. It’s a common-rail diesel engine and they are prone to injector wear.
