Jeep Grand Cherokee 2006: Expensive Mopar oil alternatives?

MY 2006 turbo-diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo has done only 28,000 km and the next service is a big one. The Mopar products Jeep use are very expensive, but as the car is just out of warranty I wonder if you could recommend using other good generic brand products that would be much cheaper? Do you know why the Mopar oils are so expensive?

The reason they're expensive is the name on the packaging, and because they're being used by Chrysler-Jeep dealers they can really charge whatever they like. You can safely use any of the better-known brands, like Shell, Castrol, Pennzoil.
