Lexus Australia has redesigned the flagship of its version of the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series upper-large SUV, the LX.
Priced from an unchanged $168,767 plus on-road costs, the LX570 S still features Lexus’ signature ‘spindle’ grille, although its gloss-black insert is now of the block-mesh variety, having previously been a less sporty wire-mesh item.
The lower section of the LX570 S’ front bumper has also been restyled, while the two-tone 21-inch alloy wheels with a 10-spoke design replace the preceding gloss-black set.
For reference, the LX570 S also goes above and beyond the carryover mid-range LX570 ($146,636) with performance dampers, ‘LX S’ puddle lights, an ‘S’ tailgate badge, alloy pedals black or Garnet semi-aniline leather upholstery and Shimamoku Grey interior trim.
As their names suggest, the LX570 and LX570 S are powered by the same engine, a 270kW/530Nm 5.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol V8, which is mated to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive (4WD) system.

Meanwhile, the unchanged entry-level LX450d ($137,636) goes it alone with a 200kW/650Nm 4.5-litre turbocharged diesel V8 that’s matched to a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and the same 4WD set-up.
As reported, the next-generation LX is on the way, with an alleged leak from a Lexus dealer conference suggesting it will offer at least two twin-turbocharged V8 engines, including a 3.5-litre V6 hybrid and a 4.0-litre V8, so stayed tuned as we get closer to its reveal.
