2022 LDV G10 price and features: Toyota HiAce, Hyundai iLoad and Ford Transit Custom rival levels up to G10+ with new diesel and automatic

The G10+ replaces the G10 as LDV’s mid-size van of choice.

LDV Australia has released the latest iteration of its G10 mid-size van, the aptly named G10+.

Compared to the equivalent G10 range, the new G10+ line-up is $1579 dearer, with driveaway pricing ranging from $34,200 for the manual Lift Door diesel to $36,906 for the automatic Barn Door diesel (see full driveaway pricing table below).

So, what makes the fresh G10+ superior to the carryover G10? Well, four of its five variants are motivated by a 118kW/375Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, which is 12kW/25Nm more potent than its sibling’s 1.9-litre unit. The G10+ and G10 do, however, share their 165kW/330Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine option.

Better yet, the G10+’s diesel and petrol powertrains are available with a ZF-sourced eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission (with paddle-shifters), while the two-pedal G10s use an older six-speed unit. Either way, a six-speed manual is also on offer in the oil-burners.

As for other points of difference, the G10+ stands out with a rotary gear selector, unique materials and improved NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels “for a more relaxed drive experience”, according to LDV Australia.

The G10+ comes with a 5.2 cubic-metre cargo area and a 1093kg payload as well as two sliding doors and a traditional tailgate (Lift Door), although rear barn doors (Barn Door) can be optioned on diesel variants for about $600.

Other standard equipment in the Toyota HiAce, Hyundai iLoad and Ford Transit Custom rival includes integrated side steps, a floor covering, multiple tie-down points and four load lights. A three-year/100,000km warranty provides peace of mind.

Justin’s dad chose to miss his birth because he wanted to watch Peter Brock hopefully win Bathurst, so it figures Justin grew up to have a car obsession, too – and don’t worry, his dad did turn up in time after some stern words from his mum. That said, despite loving cars and writing, Justin chose to pursue career paths that didn’t lend themselves to automotive journalism, before eventually ending up working as a computer technician. But that car itch just couldn’t be scratched by his chipped Volkswagen Golf R (Mk7), so he finally decided to give into the inevitable and study a Master of Journalism at the same time. And even with the long odds, Justin was lucky enough to land a full-time job as a motoring journalist soon after graduating and the rest, as they say, is history. These days, Justin happily finds himself working at CarsGuide during the biggest period of change yet for the automotive industry, which is perhaps the most exciting part of all. In case you’re wondering, Justin begrudgingly sold the Golf R (sans chip) and still has plans to buy his dream car, an E46 BMW M3 coupe (manual, of course), but he is in desperate need of a second car space – or maybe a third.
