Ford Australia has confirmed a lightly updated 2023 price range for the still quite new Ford Everest, as well as the introduction of a new variant in the middle of the line-up.

The 2023 Ford Everest Sport RWD will join a very mildly tweaked variant range from early 2023, which involves some additions to every variant as well as slight price increases across the range.

The Sport RWD joins the Sport 4WD in badge name, but not in mechanical specification - and not just for having two fewer driven wheels.

As with most variants of the Ford Everest, the Sport RWD is powered by Ford’s 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine, making 154KW and 500Nm paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Sport 4WD shares the same 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 as the top-spec Platinum variant, where it makes 184kW and 600Nm, and the same 10-speed auto shifting cogs.

The Sport RWD takes the mantle as the highest-specification rear-wheel-drive version of the Everest, with pricing at $62,790 before on-road costs, just behind the Trend 4WD for a couple of thousand more at $65,590.

The Sport features a number of features for the price, including a set of 20-inch black alloy wheels, Everest bonnet badging and an exclusive colour within the range, Blue Lightning, though it does incur an extra cost of $700.

The Sport also features 10- and eight-way power adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger respectively, both of which are leather accented with heating and cooling. The tailgate is also powered and can be opened hands-free.

Both RWD and 4WD versions of the base model Ambiente and mid-spec Trend have had prices bumped up by $300, which brings the entry point into the Everest range to $53,290 for the Ambiente RWD.

Meanwhile, the higher end of the range has a slightly higher price increase, with the Sport 4WD bumped up by $500 to $69,590, while the Platinum range-topper is now $77,530, an increase of $649.

The higher price rise doesn’t come for nothing, however. The Everest Platinum will gain extra steel underbody protection and a black painted roof.

The rest of the Ford Everest range remains essentially the same aside from its slightly increased price, though customers are still able to get in before the price bump with the changes only coming into effect in February 2023.

All Ford Everests remain rated to tow a braked 3500kg.

The Everest is Ford’s second-most popular product in Australia behind the model that does a lot of the brand’s heavy lifting in terms of sales, the Ranger ute with which the Everest shares its underpinnings.
