A modern Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series! Initial pricing for 2022 Ineos Grenadier locked-in as order books open next month

The Ineos Grenadier will kick off from $84,500 BOCs, but don't expect the usual array of equipment for that price.

Ineos has locked in an $84,500 before on-road costs starting price for its 2022 Grenadier off-roader, but don’t expect a lot of modern conveniences for that sum.

The opening price is for the base, two-seat Utility Wagon variant, which Ineos is positioning its as a “blank canvas” targeting “those needing a stripped back, no nonsense workhorse”.

Equipment includes seating for two, a full-height cargo barrier and a flat-floor loading tray that can accommodate a Euro pallet.

As standard, a blank panel is also included at the rear of the cabin, but buyers can option a rear side window at no extra charge.

A five-seat Station Wagon grade is also on offer, and “is designed to offer the optimum balance between payload and passenger carrying capability”, according to Ineos.

However, the price for the more family-friendly variant is yet to be revealed.

Likewise, detailed specs on all 2022 Grendiers are still to be released, but we do know two engines will be available – a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol or diesel powertrain, both sourced from BMW.

The former should output around 212kW/450Nm, while the latter makes about 185kW/550Nm.

Each Ineos Grenadier will also be paired with a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends drive to all four wheels, while its ladder-frame chassis promises plenty of off-road prowess.

The brand has also confirmed a 12-month service interval for its Grenadier, or six-month servicing for sustained tough environment usage.

Each Grenadier will come with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, while Ineos will have a 32-strong retail footprint in Australia and New Zealand.

Many outlets will be found in remote and country towns around Australia, including Shepparton, Ballarat, Wollongong, Tamworth and Dubbo, while Ineos is promising “comprehensive aftersales support”.

Ineos is expected to reveal more details next month as the order books open on May 18, while first Australian deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter.
