Ineos Automotive Australia has confirmed the next stage of its roll-out of Grenadier models, with the Quartermaster Cab Chassis now available to order.

Along with the Grenadier SUV and the dual-cab Quartermaster with factory back, the Grenadier Quartermaster Cab Chassis is the most utilitarian variant of the Land Rover Defender-inspired 4WDs, starting from $102,000 before on-road costs.

Ineos has also announced that it’s partnered with Australian manufacturer Norweld to create the trays for its new cab-chassis and  — while the tray comes at additional cost to the Quartermaster — Ineos has announced it will contribute $7000 towards that cost for the first wave of customers that place a deposit.

Ineos hasn’t put a limit of customers on that offer yet, though says “prospective owners are encouraged to enquire with their local retailer at their earliest convenience”.

The entry-level tray is a 1826mm by 1850mm unit altogether, made of a 4mm one-piece floor and a 76mm tube headboard with under-tray toolboxes and a 1200mm drawer, plus a 40-litre water tank.

A ‘Deluxe’ tray is available painted in body colour, while a top-spec ‘Elite’ tray adds an additional locking drawer, slide and drop in table and constant-torque toolbox hinges and colour-coded painted side plates.

The trays include a lifetime warranty on workmanship.

While Ineos says the $7000 offer is to “celebrate the opening of orders”, it’s presumably also in the hope to get Quartermaster Cab Chassis models on the road and in sight of the general public.

Incentive to get the Ineos brand in front of new customers was a topic raised when Ineos Automotive’s Asia-Pacific head Justin Hocevar spoke to CarsGuide recently.

“I think that what we've come to realise now is that that awareness amongst the real pointy end of the 4X4 community is quite high,” said Hocevar, “and for everybody else, it's quite low.”

“We need to really now — particularly that we've moved from just the station wagon to also having the Quartermaster, now the cab-chassis — we've got a big job to do to let everybody know that there is an alternative out there that competes in this kind of large 4X4/SUV space.”
