Postponied: New 2024 Ford Mustang won't arrive in Australia for months after new delay for the Blue Oval's muscle car

The Mustang was originally expected to land in Australia in 2023, then Q1 2024.

Ford Australia has confirmed the seventh generation Ford Mustang sports car won't arrive in Australia until the second half of 2024, marking another delay in the model's Australian launch.

The arrival of the 2024 Ford Mustang - possibly the MY25 Mustang by the time it lands - is now set for about two years after its reveal which took place in September 2022.

It's the second time the Mustang has been delayed, the first in mid-2023 due to "significant shipping time between the plant in Flat Rock, Michigan and Australia" according to a statement from Ford Australia at the time.

This time, Ford didn't specify the reason, though it's believed there have been significant delays in the right-hand-drive production for the Mustang.

"The exciting seventh-generation Mustang will begin deliveries to Australian customers in the second half of 2024," a Ford Australia spokesperson told CarsGuide.

"The local Mustang line-up will feature the new track-focused Dark Horse, an exhilarating limited-edition vehicle, as well as the 5.0 GT in Fastback and Convertible body styles, alongside the EcoBoost."

Pricing and specification for the Mustang as currently outlined by Ford Australia order books total four variants (before the Dark Horse and special edition) starting from $55,590 before on-road costs for the 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder-equipped EcoBoost with a 10-speed automatic.

The Mustang is also available in 5.0-litre V8-powered GT guise, the traditional way to have your Mustang, from $65,290 in six-speed manual, or with a 10-speed auto in coupe and convertible body styles.
