Superstylin'! 2023 Lexus LC updated with bigger price and equipment list to entice buyers away from BMW 8 Series

The Lexus LC is available with either a petrol V8 or a hybrid-assisted V6.

Lexus Australia has updated its flagship LC coupe and convertible with the brand’s Connected Services suite and more technology, but also increased pricing by nearly $20,000 for the LC 500h hybrid.

While the LC 500h was the most affordable in the LC range up until now, pricing has shot up to $212,727 before on-road costs from a post-LCT-adjusted $193,023 thanks to the standard inclusion of the Enhancement Pack that bundles a Torsen limited-slip differential and uprated brakes.

This means the V8-powered LC 500 coupe is now the most accessible in the line-up at $204,635, while the convertible version with the same powertrain is now $218,242 – both increasing by $4704.

The Enhancement Pack remains an option for the LC 500 coupe, which adds $15,000 to the asking price and bundles together rear-wheel steering, variable gear ratio steering, active rear spoiler, power-adjustable front seats finished in Alcantara and leather, and carbon-fibre roof and scuff plates.

Changes to the new LC include the inclusion of Lexus’ Connected Service that will send out an emergency call in the event of a collision, while also allowing owners to remotely monitor their cars via a smartphone application.

Details that can be viewed include odometer reading, fuel level, the vehicle’s last known location, door open/close status, window status and more, with notifications able to be sent if things are left open.

The service also enables vehicle tracking in the event of theft.

Meanwhile, a Remote Connect feature is also added that allows owners to remotely start their LCs, or lock/unlock doors and the boot from their phones.

Also, for the extra spend, buyers are treated to a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia system (up from 10.3 inches) that features Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay support.

The multimedia system outputs to a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, which has been updated with “low-voltage” speakers.

Finally, active safety systems have also been refreshed with the introduction of a pre-collision system that can detect cyclists and pedestrians (the former during the day only), intersection turning assist, emergency steering assist, updated adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, and new angles for the rear cross-traffic alert and surround-view monitor.

As a reminder, the V8-powered LC 500 uses a 5.0-litre engine with a 351kW/540Nm output, which now features new engine mounts for improved smoothness, according to Lexus.

Paired to the 5.0-litre V8 is a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels.

Stepping up to the LC 500h switches the powertrain to a hybrid-assisted 3.5-litre petrol V6 with a combined output of 264kW that is paired to a type of continuously variable transmission paired with a four-speed automatic.
