The Macan isn't the only SUV from Stuttgart about to get a zap for the age of electrification, with its bigger sibling, the Porsche Cayenne, is readying to go electric for its next generation.
While the Cayenne's inevitable electrification isn't a surprise, there are now some details as to what to expect from the next generation of Porsche's large SUV.
UK publication Autocar reports that the current-generation Cayenne will undergo a significant update before it's retired to make way for the next generation in 2026.

Set to be built on the Volkswagen Group Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, it will share its basis with the likes of the next Macan, as well as a similarly-sized Q6 e-tron from Audi which is expected to land sooner.
The platform's 800V architecture, as with the Macan, will allow for charging speeds in excess of 270kW and enable charging faster than most current EVs by splitting its battery charging function into two 400V halves.
Also like the Macan, it's expected the Cayenne EV will come with a 100kWh battery pack, offering a range somewhere approaching the 500km mark.
More importantly, the next Cayenne's power outputs are likely to be significantly higher than those of the current Cayenne, which tops out at 471kW in its peak Turbo GT form.

It'll also need to be more powerful than its smaller Macan sibling, which is expected to lob with 450kW with the aim of being "the sportiest in its segment", according to Porsche.
While the Cayenne is beaten convincingly by the Macan for sales in Australia, it has a much larger market share globally.
In 2021, Porsche sold 88,362 Macans, the most of any of its models, making up 29 per cent of Porsche's 301,915 total sales just ahead of the Cayenne, 27.5 per cent of the total with 83,071 sales.
In 2022, the Cayenne overtook the Macan, with Porsche reporting both as its two most popular models.
"The models with the highest demand again in 2022 were the brand's SUVs: the Porsche Cayenne was delivered a total of 95,604 times. The Macan followed in second place with 86,724 units delivered."
