Nissan has issued a recall for more than 13,000 Qashqai compact SUVs.
The recall notice from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts said affected vehicles could pose a fire risk.
Due to a manufacturing defect the fuel pipe may rub against the support bracket and become damaged.
This would result in a fuel leak that could cause sudden loss of power while driving, and poses a risk of fire.
The notice said if either of these potential results occur it could increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and property.
The potential fault affects petrol-only vehicles from 2022-2024.
Affected owners will be notified via writing and urged to contact their local Nissan dealership to have the issue fixed at no cost.
