The name Skywell will be relatively new to Australians, but the Chinese electric car brand is already set to launch a second model in the UK.

The 2025 Skywell Q electric hatchback is VW Golf-sized and has more than 480km of driving range according to reports, though a full list of specifications isn’t available.

It will follow the existing Skywell BE11 electric SUV, accroding to UK publication Autocar, and the Q is apparently the first model from the brand designed with Europe specifically in mind.

At about 4300mm long and 1800mm wide, it’s due to land in the UK in late 2025. In Australia Skywell hasn’t launched its first passenger car — the rebadged BE11 called EVA 5 — via its local importer EV Automotive.

The Brisbane-based outfit already brings Skywell’s vans to Australia, but the popularity of the EVA 5 SUV might determine whether the Q hatchback comes along afterwards.

If it does there are some strong figures associated with the model that all result in fairly impressive output and range claims.

The single front-mounted motor reportedly makes 150kW and allows the Q to hit 100km/h in a claimed 3.9 seconds, while it also has the aforementioned 480km claimed range under its belt. It’s not clear if this is under relatively relaxed CLTC testing or more accurate WLTP testing.

Skywell also claims the Q will be able to charge its battery (of which we don’t know the size) from 10-80 per cent in just 20 minutes.

Inside, there’s no dedicated driver display, just a large 15.6-inch central multimedia screen which also displays driving data, while even rear passengers will get their own screens with phone connectivity.
