The XLT has always been a popular pick for Ranger buyers as it offers a considerable amount of extra equipment and features over the XL, along with the most chrome you’ll find on any Ranger variant. Bling is the thing.

In addition to the base level XL, the XLT brings 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome sports bar with load bed illumination, load bed-liner with 12-volt power socket, tow bar, side steps, rain-sensing wipers, heated door mirrors, projector headlights, rear view camera and front parking sensors.

Inside is Ford’s premium 'SYNC 3' connectivity system with voice controlled sat-nav, DAB radio and a nice big 8.0-inch colour touchscreen plus tyre pressure monitoring system, dual zone climate control, cooled centre console, privacy glass and optional leather-accented seats.

There’s also an optional XLT 'Technology Pack' including adaptive cruise control with forward collision alert, automatic high beam control, driver impairment monitor, lane keeping aid and lane departure warning.

The XLT is available only with the premium 3.2-litre TDCi five cylinder turbo-diesel in a choice of super cab ute ($52,390 man/$54,390 auto) and dual cab ute ($54,390 man/$55,590 auto). The FX4 Special Edition, which is basically a dress-up pack for the XLT, is only available as a dual cab ute ($58,915 man/$61,115 auto).
