The Honda Acty was launched in 1977 as a compact kei truck and van designed for Japan’s strict size and engine regulations. It replaced the Honda TN360 and Honda Vamos, offering both pickup and microvan body styles. With a small 545cc engine, the Honda Acty became popular among farmers, small businesses and city delivery services.
The second generation arrived in 1988 with updated styling and more safety features. A third generation followed in 1999, moving the engine to the front for better crash protection. Over time, the Honda Acty gained fuel injection, four wheel drive options and a variety of specialised versions. In overseas markets it was sometimes sold under different badges, including the Honda Street.
By 2021 Honda had ended production of the Honda Acty, citing emissions and safety standards. Today the model still has a following in Japan and among import buyers. Used examples remain valued for their size, reliability and low running costs.
The line-up currently starts at $2,640 for the Acty 5D and ranges through to $4,070 for the range-topping Acty 5D.
