The Hummer H3 was launched in 2005 as the smallest model in the Hummer line-up, sitting beneath the larger H2 and H1. Built on a modified Chevrolet Colorado platform, it was aimed at buyers who wanted the Hummer look in a more practical size. The Hummer H3 was sold in markets including Australia, the United States and the Middle East, with the vehicle assembled in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In 2007 the Hummer H3 range expanded with the addition of the H3 Alpha, which introduced a 5.3-litre V8 engine to sit above the standard 3.5 and 3.7-litre inline-five options. A pickup version called the H3T was also offered in some markets from 2009. Despite its smaller size, the H3 kept the brand’s strong off-road focus with full-time four-wheel drive and low-range gearing.

Production of the Hummer H3 ended in 2010 after General Motors shut down the standalone Hummer brand. Today the model is remembered as the most accessible entry in the original Hummer line-up. It has since gained a following among used buyers who want rugged looks without the bulk of the H1 or H2. In some regions, the H3 is seen as a bridge between the old petrol-heavy Hummers and the electric revival of the brand.

The line-up currently starts at $15,950 for the H3 (base) and ranges through to $26,290 for the range-topping H3 Adventure.
