"The LDV V80 arrived in Australia in 2013 as a value-focused alternative in the light commercial van segment. Built by Chinese manufacturer SAIC Motor, it was based on an older-generation Maxus platform originally developed in the UK by LDV Group, a once British marque. With roots stretching back to the British Leyland era, the V80 carried a legacy of utilitarian design and dependable load-lugging capabilities.

Available in a range of sizes with high-roof and long-wheelbase options, the V80 targeted tradies, small businesses and couriers looking for maximum space at a sharp price. Powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine sourced from VM Motori, it featured a six-speed manual transmission and offered payloads rivalling more expensive rivals. While it lacked the refinement of European offerings, the V80 found a niche with budget-conscious buyers.

Internationally, the V80 has also been sold as the Maxus V80 in markets such as the UK and New Zealand. In Australia, it helped establish LDV as a serious contender in the van market."

The line-up currently starts at $36,831 for the V80 SWB LOW Roof and ranges through to $46,306 for the range-topping V80 LWB High Roof.

LDV V80 FAQs

Does the LDV V80 have a reliable engine?

It’s a motor made by VM Motori, which is a Fiat company. It’s one of the largest diesel engine manufacturers in the world. I would expect the LDV to last 10 years and give you decent reliability.
