After the blip of the hatch-only Genki, the sedan returns alongside the hatch in GT specification, the new range-topper from 2017. There is a modest price jump of $990 from the Genki, the manual starts at $21,680 and the auto at $23,680. The GT replaces what used to be called the (optional) S Pack, but feedback indicated the term 'pack' wasn't quite right, so Genki S Pack is gone, GT is in.

Standard on the GT are 16-inch alloy wheels, power windows, power folding mirrors, cloth trim, climate control, sat nav, cruise control, leather gearshifter, handbrake and steering wheel, plus keyless start, reversing camera, auto wipers, auto LED headlights, body coloured mirrors, and rear parking sensors.

To make it a GT, Mazda has fitted LED fog lamps on the outside. On the inside there are a range of soft touch panels on the centre console, front door armrests and dashpad, all in a contrasting colour and going a long way to lifting the dark black and grey interior. The seats are trimmed in black leather (sedan), white leather (hatch) with synthetic suede inserts.
