On Mazda’s march to become more upmarket, the SUVs have of course been the first to get the ‘premium’ treatment, with the CX-60 one of a few new SUV models headed to Australia to offer a more expensive - and Mazda hopes more Euro-rivalling - option for customers.
Available with either a petrol or diesel twin-turbo 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder or a plug-in hybrid-assisted four-cylinder engine, the CX-60 is more expensive than the brand’s popular mid-size SUV, the CX-5.
The line-up currently starts at $60,800 for the CX-60 G40E Evolve Hybrid and ranges through to $89,050 for the range-topping CX-60 P50E Azami SP Phev.
Mazda's CX-60 is kitted out with a plush, premium and polished interior headlined by soft-touch materials and quality touches throughout.

Three powertrain options are available on the 2024 CX-60 range - a 209kW/450Nm 3.3-litre inline turbo-petrol six-cylinder, a 187kW/550Nm 3.3-litre turbo-diesel six and a 241kW/500Nm 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid.
The petrol-powered CX-60 will hit 100km/h from a standstill in just 6.9 seconds, while the diesel-equipped model needs 7.3s.

Mazda's CX-60 features a 570-litre capacity boot, which can be expanded to 1148L with the second-row folded down.
Mazda's CX-60 has seating for five passengers, just like the CX-5, but its bigger dimensions affords a little more interior room than the brand's existing top-selling mid-size SUV.

Depending on engine, the Mazda CX-60 will yield different driving ranges.
The range for the PHEV is hard to determine exactly based on combined fuel consumption figures, but the diesel should last for around 1200km, while the petrol should get about 967km of range.
Standard equipment on the CX-60 includes dual-zone cliamte controls, keyless entry, push-button start, 18-inch wheels, LED head- and tail-lights and adaptive cruise control.
Higher and more expensive grades score added features like cooled seats, a heated steering wheel and driver monitor.
