Liberty Walk's Daihatsu Copen GT-K is the last word in Kei car body kits

There is no better way to strut 47kW.

That’s what the JDM Daihatsu Copen produces. Just 47kW/92Nm from its turbocharged 660cc engine. But now you can make it look like it has a lot more thanks to Aichi Prefecture’s most infamous custom body shop; Liberty Walk.

Complete with obnoxious overfenders, fake exhaust tips and GT-R badging, it’s the bodykit that would yell “PLEASE DEFECT ME” in Australia and, in the rest of the world, is seemingly just an invitation for a cease and desist from Nissan.

You can now get a mini-me for your 'Liberty Walked' GT-R.

Liberty Walk sells the Copen ‘GT-K’ kit in a few different flavours depending on how much you want to offend GT-R fans.

The full-fat set, coming in at the equivalent of almost AU$5000 includes the GT-R front and rear bumpers, the ‘GT wing’ and signature widebody fenders. Although, to get the car in the pictures you need to add the 'Liberty Walk original aluminium wheels' (AU$2019), air suspension (AU$7376), LED DRLs (AU$129), mirror covers (AU$439) and fake quad mufflers (AU$2728) for a total cost of AU$17,691.

Kind of a tall order when a brand-new Copen Robe in Japan costs the equivalent of AU$22,200.

The quad exhaust and GT-R badges really ram it home.

You can also spec the car with the individual 'GT-K' body kit parts or opt for a more conservative AU$3002 set that doesn’t include the wide bits or 'GT' wing.

Sadly, unlike its primary rival, the Honda S660, the Copen is not a midship rear-wheel drive and channels its huge power reserves through just the front wheels.

Awesome little homage or just distasteful? Tell us what you think of the Liberty Walk GT-K Copen in the comments.
