Here at Oversteer we're obsessed with people taking high-powered motorcycle engines and stuffing them into tiny cars.

Recently, an Italian bloke took an underwhelming Fiat Cinquecento and transformed it into an apex predator.

Produced between 1991-1998, the largest engine (originally) offered in the Cinquecento was a 1.1-litre four-cylinder, which only made 40kW, but this example is powered by a 1.4-litre engine from a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja.

The unit has been tweaked to produce 186kW instead of 154kW, while the hatch has also been converted from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.

It’s almost like the Italian version of our Aussie Racing Cars, with the driver sitting in the middle of the car, which appears to be a massive handful around the Castelletto di Branduzzo circuit in Northern Italy.

What car would you throw a Ninja engine into? Let us know in the comments.

Following a passion shared by his father and grandfather, Mitchell’s love of cars really kicked off with his Godfather’s purchase of a new Mazda RX-8. Exposure to that car changed his world forever, leading to an RX-7 obsession. To feed his automotive addiction, Mitchell decided to become a motoring journalist and made his mark at several high-profile motoring publications before landing at CarsGuide. While he is a rotary loyalist, Mitchell also has a massive love for Aussie muscle cars, and dreams of one day getting behind the wheel of a Charger R/T E49 (if anyone will let him). His other passions include Queensland, and spending Saturdays with the boys.
