The Ford Ranger XL Plus has unique features designed to meet the specific requirements of mining companies, government departments and other organisations needing more functionality from their vehicle fleets in the field. The XL Plus could also appeal to some private buyers.

On top of the vinyl floor XL specification, the XL Plus adds larger 17-inch steel wheels with 265/65R17 all-terrain tyres, moulded black bumpers, mud flaps, 3500kg tow bar, daytime running lights, side steps (dual cabs only) and heavy duty canvas seat covers. There’s also an optional steel bull bar which retains the Ranger’s five star ANCAP safety rating.

One of the XL Plus’s most significant features is its expanded wiring harness designed to provide ample power for multiple devices often required at remote worksites. This set-up includes a four-switch auxiliary bezel, heavy duty 75 amp hour primary battery and a second deep cycle discharge 80 amp hour battery with isolator switch.

XL Plus is available only with the 3.2-litre TDCi five cylinder turbo-diesel and six-speed automatic transmission in a choice of three body styles – single cab cab-chassis ($46,180), dual cab ute ($51,960) and dual cab cab-chassis ($52,960).
