The ID. 4's interior is spacious thanks to its dedicated electric 'MEB' platform, allowing it a flat floor between the seats front and rear. The central console area is flexible, with a floating effect and removable storage features, while the dash and doors come with soft-touch finishes to add to the more upmarket feel usually associated with VWs.
There are a total of 11 colour choices in the VW ID. 4 range - grey, white, silver, black or dark blue, with the $900 'Style Package' adding the option of those same colours available with a contrast black roof as well as a package-exclusive additional light blue and black roof colour scheme.

Boot space for the ID. 4 is 543 litres which is competitive for the mid-size SUV segment. It features additional storage under the floor for charging cables, but only features a tyre repair kit. There is also no frunk on the ID. 4
The ID. 4 is strictly a five-seat mid-size SUV offering, with seats trimmed in a blend of leather and synthetic 'microfleece'.
Rear-wheel drive versions of the ID. 4 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the incoming GTX version can complete the sprint in 5.4 seconds. Top speed is 180km/h.
The ID. 4 is available at launch as a single-motor rear-wheel drive producing 210kW/540Nm, although an ID. 4 GTX will arrive before the end of 2025 with an additional 40kW of power thanks to an additional motor on the front axle, bringing total combined outputs to 250kW/540Nm.
Standard items on the launch Pro variant include 19-inch alloys and Volkswagen’s signature ‘Matrix’ LED headlights, a 12.9-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity alongside a 5.3-inch instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting and electrically adjustable and heated front seats with a message function. There is also tri-zone climate control, adaptive dampers with adjustable settings, a sportier ‘progressive’ steering tune as standard and an electric tailgate.
