Volkswagen Australia has paused orders for some versions of its most popular badge, the Tiguan SUV, with incoming availability disruptions for the all-wheel drive models meaning demand is expected to significantly outstrip supply.
While the Tiguan Allspace and base front-wheel drive Tiguan 110TSI Life will both continue to be sold, and the latter expected to improve in supply, Volkswagen says 4Motion AWD model supply "will be restricted from the second quarter of 2023 onwards due to a lack of 4Motion availability”.
However, the brand says a current offer on the Tiguan 132TSI Life AWD, in which customers can order one for $49,990 drive-away with three years of servicing included, will remain active until March 31, 2023.
Volkswagen says it has 132TSI, 147TDI, and 162TSI variants in stock to the tune of 3572 units across Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace, while Tiguan Monochrome and Tiguan Allspace Adventure special editions remain relatively available.
The high-performance Tiguan R, however, will also be put on hold for the foreseeable future, as Volkswagen cites “reasons of demand”.
While supply of the T-Roc R (as well as the T-Roc generally) remains steady, VW says Golf R and R Wagon orders will remain paused.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles director Michal Szeniecki said customers are able to track the delivery from factory to dealership via the brand’s Volkswagen Welcome Experience site.
"As always, we thank customers for their patience and have been pleased to introduce them to our new Welcome Experience in late January."
