Mazda CX-5 2016

The 2016 Mazda CX-5 range of configurations is currently priced from $13,990.

Carsguide Contributing journalist Peter Anderson had this to say at the time: The CX-5 is one of those rare cars that doesn't rely on a rock-bottom price to keep its sales powering on. In fact, the lowest-priced variant makes up just 20 per cent of sales. Even with a recent price increase to offset the extra safety gear, the CX-5 just keeps selling at a rate that makes category giants like Toyota, Hyundai and Volkswagen extraordinarily jealous.

This is what Peter Anderson liked most about this particular version of the Mazda CX-5: Good looks, Value-for-money, Excellent dynamics

The 2016 Mazda CX-5 carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1800 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.

Mazda CX-5 2016 Q&As

Check out real-world situations relating to the Mazda CX-5 2016 here, particularly what our experts have to say about them.

  • Best SUV under $25k?

The Trax is good value for money and stacks up well against all comers in the class. The 1.4 turbo is the best engine, and it has a conventional auto instead of a CVT that most of its rivals have. Others to look at are the Suzuki S-Cross, Ford Kuga, Nissan Qashqai, Mazda CX-5 and Subaru XV.

  • Which SUV should I buy?

You have clearly done your homework, from which you should be able to decide which is best for you. Without knowing what your needs and wants are all we can advice is that the three cars you have honed in on are good choices.

  • Recommendations for a family SUV?

Your need for low maintenance rules out the Europeans, Jeeps are popular but aren't as reliable as I think they should be, leaving you with the Japanese and Korean brands. The cars I would suggest you look at are the Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester and Honda CR-V.

  • Best replacement for a Liberty Wagon?

With 2000 kg towing capacity the Discovery Sport has the towing capacity you want, it's more than the CX-5, and it's not limited to 80 km/h like the Subaru is. That's a big plus. The only criticisms we've heard about are some niggling interior fit and finish issues, and one or two electrical gremlins. The Land Rover also has more ground clearance than the CX-5 and a traction control system better set up for actual off-road work.
