It may not seem like it, but the current ‘T6.2’ Ford Ranger has been around for three years. And despite the fact it continues to be the most popular new vehicle in the country it remains locked in a King Kong vs Godzilla-style contest for market supremacy with the Toyota HiLux.
Not only that, relative newcomers like the BYD Sealion 6, GWM Cannon and JAC T9 are mixing it up with evergreen campaigners including the Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi Triton and Mazda BT-50 in the fight for tradie hearts and minds.
So, what better time to roll out another limited Ford Ranger Black Edition to maintain momentum and keep sales on the boil?
As was the case in 2024, this year’s Ranger Black Edition will be limited by time rather than a specific build number, rolling down the production line from September to October 2025 with the first examples scheduled to hit showrooms in October.
Based on the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo XL double-cab pick-up 4x4, the Ranger Black Edition features value-add extras including a carpeted floor (with driver's carpet mat), a black 'long-legged' sports bar, a drop-in bedliner, a cargo management system, unique 17-inch ‘Asphalt Black’ alloy wheels shod with Bridgestone Dueler all-terrain tyres, black side steps and a unique Asphalt Black mesh grille with ‘Bolder Grey’ inserts.
Priced at $55,990, before on-road costs (in standard ‘Arctic White’), Ford has put together drive-away offers for the Ranger Black Edition - private buyers $57,000 and ABN holders $55,000. Available options include a ‘Towing Pack’ ($1950) and ‘Prestige Paint’ ($750).
For reference, the Ranger Bi-Turbo XL double-cab 4x4 the Black Edition is based on was the subject of a recent price rise from $52,480 to $52,730, before on-road costs.
