Pre-orders are open for one of Deepal’s three (so far) offerings in Australia, a combination of an SUV and a ute.

With a ute-like tailgate and a separate compartment from the rest of the cabin, the Deepal E07 (called a ‘multitruck’ by the brand) strikes a similar silhouette to the Tesla Cybertruck but starts from $64,900 before-on roads.

That’s for a single-motor RWD version, while an all-wheel drive version comes in at $73,900.

While it’s not likely to replace a proper dual-cab for any tradies out there, its unusual layout includes a retractable roof and partition and is able to be used with the rear seats folded down, just like an SUV would.

Its 300kg payload capacity somewhat limits its usefulness as a genuine hauler, but something like a family trip with plenty of luggage is more the aim here.

The E07 does come with an impressive electric driving range claim of 642km in its rear-wheel drive version, though that’s under NEDC testing and is likely to be less under more accurate WLTP testing.

The rear-wheel drive boasts 252kW and 365Nm, with a 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 6.9 seconds.

The AWD is much more powerful, offering a total of 440kW and 645Nm. Its range claim of 626km seems optimistic given it uses the same 90kWh battery, although it can apparently hit 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

The E07 uses an 800-volt electrical architecture that allows up to 350km of range (30 per cent to 80 per cent) to be added in just 15 minutes - this comes thanks to a max DC charge rate of 240kW, according to the brand.

Inside, specifications and features for both variants include a 15.4-inch central multimedia touchscreen that can rotate slightly, double-layered insulated glass, dual-zone air conditioning with air purification, a large 28.86-inch head-up display, Nappa leather appointed upholstery and a surround-view camera.

Deepal expects deliveries of the E07 to commence in Q3 of 2025.
