Ford has issued a recall notice affecting 38,423 vehicles sold between 2022 and 2024 across its Everest and Transit Custom ranges.

Impacted vehicles suffer from a software issue that may prevent the auto reverse window function from operating as intended.

The Federal Government's recall notice reads: “Due to a software issue, if a vehicle occupant places an obstruction such as a body part in the window space when the driver or passenger side windows are closing, the auto reverse function may not operate until significant pressure is applied.

“If the driver or passenger side window auto reverse function does not operate as intended, it can increase the risk of serious injury to vehicle occupants,” the notice reads.

Ford says that owners will be contacted in writing with a request that they contact their nearest Ford dealer to have the defect repaired, free of charge.

The recall primarily affects Everest models, as nearly 45,000 were sold between January 2022 and September 2024 compared to 6927 Transit Customs.
