Mazda has given its Mazda3 hatch and sedan range a suite of upgrades for MY24, headlined by Mazda app connectivity and additional safety features for more variants.
In exchange for the upgrades the Mazda3 range will also receive a $730 price rise, with the entry-level G20 Pure now starting at $31,190, before on-road costs, for both the hatchback and sedan option.
That pushes the Mazda3 $1580 above the entry-level Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport which is priced at $29,610, before on-road costs, and $4130 more than the Kia Cerato S, which is priced at $27,060, before on-roads.

For the remainder of 2024 all Mazda3 variants will gain connectivity to the 'Mazda Connected Services' app which provides features such as vehicle status and health data, remote locking, vehicle location tracking and stolen vehicle assistance, among others.
The 'Vision Pack' now also becomes standard from the G20 Touring variant upwards. It adds a new 10.25-inch multimedia colour display alongside safety features like a surround view camera, cruising and traffic support, driver monitoring and front cross-traffic alert.
On G20 Pure models and upwards USB-A audio and charging ports are replaced by USB-C, while the G20 Evolve variant and beyond receives wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as wireless charging functionality.
Additionally, there’s a new SOS button mounted to the vehicle’s roof panel, which automatically activates in case of emergency.
'Zircon Metallic Sand' joins three other premium paint colours and five standard colours for 2024. Customers can opt for premium paint for an additional $595, while standard paint is complimentary.
Powertrain options remain unchanged for 2024, consisting of an in-line, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 114kW/200Nm or a 2.5-litre version producing 139kW/252Nm.
Both engines feature a six-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels only.
