The Maxx opens the range with a manual and an automatic 2.0-litre petrol at $27,890 for the former and $29,890 for the latter.
Opting for the 2.5-litre four cylinder automatic raises the price to $32,890. Around 20 percent of CX-5s sold in Australia are Maxxs.
These prices include 17-inch steel wheels, cloth trim, keyless start, cruise control, air-conditioning, reversing camera, 7.0-inch colour touchscreen with MZD Connect, four speaker stereo, USB (with iPhone app compatibility but not CarPlay), power windows and mirrors, air-conditioning and cloth trim.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, brake force distribution, electric park brake, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, and hill holder.
The 2.0 litre develops 114kW/200Nm and drives the front wheels through either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. Mazda claims 6.6L/100km for both transmissions. The 2.0 Maxx's kerb weight is 1456kg for the manual and 1508kg for the auto.
The 2.5 litre produces 138kW and 250Nm and is only available as a six-speed automatic driving all four wheels. Mazda says on the combined cycle, you'll use 7.4L/100km. Kerb weight for the 2.5 Maxx is 1589kg.
